Among Sensex firms, NTPC, Axis Bank, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, Eternal and Sun Pharma were the major gainers. However, Infosys, Titan, UltraTech Cement and Hindustan Unilever were among the laggards.
The Sensex opened 18 points higher at 5,545. Continued buying in Tech and blue chip stocks saw the index zoom to a high of 5,570.
From the Sensex firms, Eternal, Power Grid, ITC, Bajaj Finserv, Nestle, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Adani Ports were among the biggest gainers. Sun Pharma was the only laggard, declining nearly 2 per cent.
The markets opened 47 points higher at 7,682.
The index is now down 12 points at 5,187. The Nifty is at 1,625 - down four points.
Tech Mahindra, Adani Ports, HCL Tech, Tata Consultancy Services and Bajaj Finserv were also among the gainers. However, Trent, Eternal, UltraTech Cement and NTPC were among the laggards.
The Sensex opened with a positive gap of ten points at 7,059, but soon dipped to a low of 7,034 in early deals.
In the broader markets, the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were up 0.5% each
The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 18 points 6,594, and moved in positive zone right through the session on Friday.
The BSE Sensex opened 9 points higher at 5,713. Continued buying has meant that the indices have moved further upwards. The Sensex is now at 5,734, up 30 points.
